Coastal Blue Meets Warm Wood: A New Build Kitchen in Hampstead, NC

For this new construction home, our design goal was a kitchen that felt bright and coastal without leaning into cliché. We grounded the space in crisp white perimeter cabinetry, then let a soft, slate-toned blue take over the island for a quiet moment of contrast. A warm wood-look vent hood anchors the range wall and brings texture against the cool palette, while black Jeffrey Alexander hardware and pendant fixtures keep the look current.

The island offers plenty of room for stools and casual gathering, topped in a soft white quartz with subtle veining that complements the surrounding Waypoint Cabinetry finishes throughout. A Ruvati farmhouse sink and Moen pre-rinse faucet in matte black continue the working-kitchen feel, and a blue herringbone Florida Tile backsplash behind the range ties directly back to the island color for a cohesive, layered look.

Just off the kitchen, the walk-in pantry carries the same soft blue cabinetry and quartz countertops, giving the space a seamless extension of storage and prep room. That same coastal blue shows up again in two of the home's bathrooms, where painted cabinetry echoes the kitchen's palette and ties the whole home together with a consistent, intentional design thread from room to room.

There's something about a thoughtfully designed new build that just feels right, and this kitchen is a great example of how a single accent color, used with restraint, can carry a home's design story from the heart of the house outward.
